Rocking Chair Assembly Instructions
Very simple step by step guide to setting up our Sederica mid-century rocking chair. Everything you need is in the box, and most people finish in around fifteen minutes.
Before You Begin
A few minutes of setup makes the job simple
Please read our rocking chair assembly guide fully before you start. The chair comes almost ready, and one person can finish it easily. You will be joining the seat shell to the metal legs, and then fixing the legs onto the two curved wooden rockers.
- Unpack on a clean, flat surface, and keep the protective wrap on the seat shell until you have finished
- Turn the seat shell upside down on a soft blanket or the packing foam, so the surface cannot get scratched while you work
- Check every part against the list below before you throw any packaging away
- Start every screw by hand first, get all of them into place, and only then tighten them firmly. This keeps the frame even and steady

Step by Step Assembly
Follow each step in order for the best fit
Turn the Seat Shell Over
- Place the seat shell (A) upside down on a soft blanket or the packing foam
- You will see the mounting holes where the metal legs attach, near the front and the back of the shell
- Keep the protective wrap on the outside of the shell so it stays clean while you work
Attach the Metal Leg Frames
- Line the front leg frame (B) up with the front mounting holes on the shell
- Place a washer (I) on each screw, then fit the shell mounting screws (G) by hand, two on each side
- Do the same with the back leg frame (C), matching it to the back mounting holes
- Once all the screws are started, tighten them firmly with the Allen key (K)
Fit the Cross Support Bar
- Slot the cross support bar (F) between the front and back leg frames, near the bottom
- This bar keeps the legs steady, so make sure it sits square before you fix it
- Secure it in place, then check that the whole frame feels firm with no wobble
Attach the Wooden Rockers
- Set the left wooden rocker (D) under the legs on the left side, lining the holes up with the base of the metal frame
- Fit the rocker fixing screws (H) with a washer (I) on each, and tighten them with the Allen key
- Repeat on the right side with the right rocker (E)
- Make sure both rockers point the same way and sit level, so the chair rocks smoothly
Add the Felt Pads and Turn It Over
- Press the four felt floor pads (J) onto the underside of the rockers, so they protect your floor
- Carefully turn the chair the right way up
- Peel away the protective wrap from the seat shell
You Are Finished
- Your rocking chair is now fully assembled and ready to use
- Give every screw a final check for tightness
- Sit back, rock gently, and enjoy your new chair

Simple habits that keep your chair looking new
- Wipe the seat shell with a soft, damp cloth whenever it needs it, then dry it with a clean cloth
- Dust the wooden rockers with a dry cloth, and treat them with a little furniture wax once or twice a year to protect the wood
- Keep the chair out of long, direct sunlight, as strong sun can fade both the shell and the wood over time
- Check the screws every few months and tighten any that have loosened, since a rocking chair moves more than a fixed one
- Avoid harsh cleaners and solvents, which can dull the finish
Because a rocking chair is always in motion, its screws can work loose faster than on a normal chair. A quick check every few months keeps it safe and quiet.
