A simple, step by step guide to setting up your Sederica Barcelona style chair. The frame comes in one piece, so setup is quick and needs no tools of your own.
Before You Begin
A few minutes of setup makes the job simple
Please read this Barcelona chair assembly guide before you start. The good news is that the hard work is already done. The stainless steel frame arrives fully welded in one piece, so you only need to add the two leather cushions and connect them with the leather straps. One person can finish this easily.
- Unpack on a clean, flat surface, and keep the protective wrap on the steel frame until you have finished, so it does not pick up marks
- Lay the two cushions flat and let them settle for a few minutes, as they may have been rolled or folded in the box
- Check every part against the list below before you throw any packaging away
- Handle the polished steel frame with clean hands or soft gloves, as fingerprints show easily on the mirror finish

Step by Step Assembly
Follow each step in order for the best fit
Stand the Frame Upright
- Lift the stainless steel frame (A) out of the box and stand it the right way up on a flat floor
- Press the four floor protector pads (E) onto the bottom of the frame legs, so they guard your floor
- Keep the protective wrap on until the cushions are in place
Place the Seat Cushion
- Rest the seat cushion (B) onto the lower leather straps or the seat frame, lining it up so it sits centred and even
- The buttoned side faces up, and the plain side sits against the frame
- Smooth it into place so it feels level from front to back
Place the Backrest Cushion
- Rest the backrest cushion (C) against the upper part of the frame
- Line up the loops or straps on the back of the cushion with the top bar of the frame
- Make sure the buttoned tufting on the seat and the back line up neatly, as this is what gives the chair its classic look
Fasten the Leather Straps
- Take the two leather fixing straps (D) and loop them over the frame bar, through the fittings on the back of each cushion
- Buckle or fasten them so both cushions are held firmly and cannot slide
- Check that the straps are hidden neatly behind the cushions once fastened
You Are Finished
- Your Barcelona style chair is now ready to use
- Peel away any protective wrap from the steel frame
- Wipe off any fingerprints with a soft, dry cloth, then move the chair into place
Caring for Your Barcelona Chair
Simple habits that keep your chair looking new
- Dust the leather with a soft, dry cloth once a week
- Wipe fingerprints off the steel frame with a soft cloth, and buff gently to bring back the shine
- Wipe spills on the leather straight away with a clean, slightly damp cloth, and never soak it
- Apply a leather conditioner made for furniture every 6 to 12 months to keep the cushions soft
- Keep the chair out of long, direct sunlight and away from radiators, as heat and sun can dry and fade leather over time
The polished steel shows fingerprints easily. A quick buff with a dry microfibre cloth keeps that mirror finish looking its best.
