Lounge Chair & Ottoman
A simple, seven step guide to setting up your Sederica mid-century lounge chair and matching ottoman. Everything you need is in the box.
Before You Begin
Five minutes of preparation saves time later
Please read this guide fully before you start. Most customers finish in 20 to 30 minutes, and the job is much easier with a second person to help, as some parts are large and best held from both sides.
- Unpack on a clean, flat surface, and leave the protective film on the base and the underside of the seat until you have finished
- Lay a blanket, the packing foam, or some cardboard under the leather parts while you work, so the floor cannot scratch them
- Check every part against the list below before you throw any packaging away
- Tighten all screws loosely first, fit everything together, then tighten them firmly at the same time. This keeps the frame straight and protects the joints

Tools You Need
Both tools are included in the box
You do not need a screwdriver, a drill, or any other tool. If you prefer to use a power driver for the larger screws (O and P), set it to a low torque so you do not over tighten into the frame.
Step by Step Assembly
Follow each step in order for the best fit
Assemble the Ottoman Base
- Place 4 rubber gaskets (T) over the mounting holes on the ottoman base (E)
- Sit the ottoman cushion (D) on top, lining it up centrally over the base
- Insert 4 screws (P) through the base and into the cushion frame, and tighten them loosely for now
- Screw the 4 glide feet (J) into the underside of the ottoman legs (B), turning each one until it is snug
- Attach the leg assembly to the base, then tighten every screw firmly together
Fit the Backrest to the Seat
- Hold the backrest cushion (L) against the top of the chair seat (C), matching the R (right) and L (left) marks on each side
- Slide the 2 steel brackets (N) into the marked sockets
- Secure them with the screws (O) on both the left and the right side
- Check that the backrest sits flush and centred before you tighten fully
Check the Seat Direction
- Turn the seat (C) over and find the FRONT and BACK labels on the underside
- Make sure the FRONT label faces the front of the chair, matching the marks on the base plate
- Look for the R and L markers near the front edge. These line up with the same marks you used in Step 2, so the backrest brackets sit on the correct side
Attach the Armrests
- With the backrest already fitted, hold the 2 armrest pads (M) against the outer edges of the seat, lining them up with the R markers on the frame
- Secure each armrest from underneath with the screws (Q), using 2 per side, 4 in total
- Tighten evenly on both sides so the armrests sit level
Prepare the Chair Base
- Slide the rubber pad (H) and then the dust guard cap (G) onto the centre post, stacking them in the order shown in the diagram
- Screw the 5 glide feet (K) into the underside of each leg on the star shaped base (A)
- Set the finished base to one side. You will join it to the seat in the next step
Join the Seat to the Base
- Place the remaining 4 rubber gaskets (T) over the mounting points on the underside of the seat assembly (F)
- Lower the seat onto the base you prepared in Step 5, lining the centre post up with the mounting plate
- Insert the remaining 4 screws (P) and tighten them loosely
- Fit the retaining ring (I) over the centre post and secure it firmly with the wrench (S)
- Once the ring is secure, tighten all the base screws together
You Are Finished
- Your lounge chair and ottoman are now fully assembled
- Carefully peel away any protective film left on the base and frame
- Give every screw a final check for tightness, then move your chair and ottoman into place

Simple habits that keep your chair looking new
- Dust with a soft, dry cloth once a week
- Wipe spills straight away with a clean, slightly damp cloth, and never soak the leather
- Keep your chair out of long, direct sunlight, and away from radiators or heating vents, as heat and sunlight can dry and fade leather over time
- Apply a leather conditioner made for furniture every 6 to 12 months to keep it soft
- Avoid harsh cleaners, solvents, and baby wipes, as these strip the natural finish
Always tighten all the screws together at the end of each step, rather than one at a time. This keeps the frame square and stops uneven stress on the joints.
