What a Barcelona chair costs at a UK address
A chair sent from the EU to the UK crosses a customs border, the point where the UK checks goods coming in and can add tax. Plenty of shops promise "free UK delivery" and say no more. That tells you who pays the courier. It does not tell you who pays the tax.
There are four costs to check with any shop. Here is each one, with our answer.
1. The chair
Our chairs start at €409. A Barcelona chair and ottoman set starts at €629. Prices and checkout are in euros. Your card provider or PayPal turns the total into pounds at its own rate on the day you pay.
2. Delivery
This is the courier's charge for bringing the box to you. With us it is free to UK addresses, for one chair or several.
3. Import VAT
Import VAT is a 20% tax on goods that enter the UK. On an order over £135, it is due when the parcel reaches the country. Some shops leave it for the courier to collect from you. Ours is already in the price.
4. Customs duty and fees
Customs duty is a second tax on some imported goods. A courier that collects tax at the door can add a handling fee too. Our price includes the duty, so there is no tax left for a courier to collect.
Our answer for UK orders
The total at checkout is the full amount. It covers the chair, UK import VAT, customs duty and delivery. Nobody should ask you for money when the chair arrives. If a courier ever does, contact us before you pay.

Delivery to the UK: will it fit through your door?
DPD or GLS brings your chair to UK addresses about 2 to 3 working days after it is dispatched. That is an estimate, not a promised date. A tracking email reaches you once the box is on its way.
Allow extra time for remote areas, weekends, bank holidays and the odd carrier delay.
Now think about the last few metres. Many UK homes have a narrow hall, a tight turn on the stairs, or inside doors about 76 cm wide. A Barcelona chair is a wide, low seat, so it pays to check.
- Measure first. Find the narrowest door or turn on the way to the room. Compare it with the sizes on the product page.
- Live in a flat? Ask us whether the courier comes up to your own front door or stops at the building entrance. We will check for your postcode.
- Highlands, islands or Northern Ireland? Remote areas can take longer. Send us your postcode, and we will confirm delivery to your address before you order.

The chair sits low and wide on an X-shaped frame of polished stainless steel. Its two cushions are aniline leather, a real leather dyed right through so the natural grain still shows. Buttons pull the leather into neat squares.

Not on top of our price. The UK is outside the EU, so import VAT and customs duty apply to a chair that comes from an EU warehouse. We include both in the total you pay at checkout, so the courier should not ask you for money.
