The chair in short
The shell is built from thin layers of wood veneer pressed together. Layers like this are less likely to crack or bend out of shape. The cushions are covered in Italian aniline leather, which is dyed all the way through with no painted top coat.
Small rubber mounts hold the back to the seat. They let the back give a little when you lean into it. The chair turns right round on a polished aluminium base.

The ottoman lets you stretch your legs out and lean back fully. It is the classic way to use this chair.
Short on floor space? The chair on its own takes up less room. It still turns and reclines the same way.

Lots of Dutch homes have narrow, steep stairs. This is where a flat-packed chair helps. It comes in boxes, not as one bulky armchair, so you are not trying to turn a finished chair around a tight bend. If your stairs are very tight, ask us for the box sizes before you order.
Putting it together takes most people 20 to 30 minutes. Every tool is in the box. Ask a second person to help, as some parts are large and easier to hold from two sides.

Big windows, bright rooms: caring for the leather
Many Dutch homes have large windows, often with the curtains left open. Daylight is lovely, but strong sun slowly fades aniline leather. It has no painted coat to shield it.
So place the chair out of the harshest midday sun, or use a thin curtain on the brightest days. Keep it away from radiators and other direct heat, which can dry leather out. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth, and use a leather conditioner a few times a year.
