Our Eames EA119 office chair in camel is a high-back replica of the 1958 Aluminium Group task chair. It is upholstered in ribbed Italian aniline leather over a polished chrome aluminium frame.
Camel is the lightest of our warm leathers, a soft golden tan that brightens a desk corner instead of darkening it. The tall back rises past the shoulder blades, giving your upper back something to rest against through long calls and reading sessions.
Camel Aniline Leather, Ribbed Channels and Polished Aluminium
The seat and back are one continuous run of Italian aniline leather. It is divided into horizontal ribbed channels, with every panel hand-stitched. Aniline leather is dyed through rather than sealed under a heavy pigment coat, so the natural grain stays visible and the surface feels soft and warm.
Each channel holds a thin layer of fire-retardant, high-resilience foam. It springs back when you stand up instead of flattening over the months.
The arms, side spines and five-star base are polished chrome aluminium. Aluminium keeps the chair at 13 kg, which makes it easy to roll between desk and meeting table. The chrome gives the warm leather a clean, bright edge.
How the Thin Pad Construction Supports You
The idea behind the EA119 is simple. There is no moulded shell with cushioning on top. Instead, the upholstered panel is stretched tight between the two aluminium side spines, and that taut panel becomes the seat itself.
Sit down and it gives slightly, then holds. The feel is firm and sprung, closer to a well-tensioned hammock than a padded armchair.
The ribs do real work here. Each stitched channel flexes on its own, so the back bends a little with your spine rather than pressing flat against it. Add the tilt function and 360-degree swivel, and you can lean back to read or turn to a second screen without shifting your whole body.
The 1958 Design Behind Our EA119 Replica
Charles and Ray Eames designed the Aluminium Group in 1958, first for a private house in Columbus, Indiana. Their breakthrough was structural. They dropped the seat shell entirely and let a stretched panel of fabric or leather carry the sitter between two aluminium side members.
The design is still widely counted among the most important chairs of the twentieth century. We reproduce its defining details – the side spines, the ribbed channels, the five-star base – and Sederica makes it under our own name with our own materials.

Why Choose a Camel Leather Office Chair?
Camel is the colour we suggest when black feels too corporate and white feels too exposed. It is a shade lighter and more golden than our tan brown version. Next to pale oak, birch or white-lacquered desks, it reads warm without adding visual weight. That matters in the compact home offices found in many European apartments.
It also partners well with colour. Navy walls, olive and sage greens, terracotta and grey linen all sit comfortably beside it.
If you want a chair that disappears into a monochrome office, the same chair in black is the safer pick. Camel is for rooms where the chair is meant to be noticed.
Is This High Back Ribbed Leather Office Chair Right for You?
It suits people who spend long stretches at a desk and want upper-back support without the bulk of a padded executive chair. That includes home workers, architects and designers, consultants taking calls from a study, and anyone furnishing a meeting room that clients will see.
For buyers who want an Eames-style high back executive chair that looks lighter than the usual black leather, camel is a natural choice.
Be honest about your comfort preferences, though. The thin pad is firm by design. If you like to sink into thick cushions, our EA219 soft pad high-back chair is the better match.
The arms sit at a set height, and there is no separate lumbar adjustment. People who need fully adjustable ergonomic settings may prefer a dedicated task chair.
Size and Fit at Your Desk
The chair measures 59 cm wide and 67 cm deep, so allow that footprint plus a little room to roll back. Overall height moves between 106 and 117 cm, giving about 11 cm of height adjustment. At 13 kg it is easy to carry up a flight of stairs, and only minor assembly is needed.

Caring for Camel Aniline Leather
Light aniline leather rewards a little routine:
- Dust weekly with a dry microfibre cloth.
- Blot any spill straight away with a barely damp cloth.
- Apply a neutral conditioner made for aniline leather roughly every six months.
- Keep the chair out of strong direct sunlight, which deepens the colour unevenly.
Expect the leather to darken slightly where your back and legs rest most. That soft patina is normal for aniline hides and, in our view, part of the appeal.
Polish the chrome with a soft dry cloth, and avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the finish.

EA119 Camel Office Chair: Your Questions Answered
Who makes this Eames-style EA119 chair?
Sederica makes it. It is our replica of the 1958 Aluminium Group high-back design by Charles and Ray Eames, built with Italian aniline leather and a polished chrome aluminium frame. We sell it under our own name. It is not produced or endorsed by any holder of Eames design rights, and full terms are set out in our Legal Disclaimer.
Is the thin pad comfortable enough for a full working day?
For most people, yes. The stretched leather panel gives firm, even support, and the high back reaches your shoulders, which helps during long sessions at a screen. It does feel firmer than a cushioned executive chair. If you prefer deep padding, compare it with our EA219 soft pad high-back chair before ordering.
Will the camel leather change colour over time?
Yes, gradually. Aniline leather has no heavy protective topcoat, so it deepens slightly with handling and light, most visibly on the seat front and upper back. Direct sun speeds this up and can cause uneven fading, so avoid placing the chair right against a bright window. Regular conditioning keeps the surface supple and the tone even.
How is the camel version different from tan brown and the EA117?
Our EA119 tan brown, black and white chairs share this model’s high back, ribbed thin pad and aluminium frame. The leather colour is the main difference, and camel is the lightest warm tone of the four. The EA117 is a separate model with a low back, better suited to shorter sessions or meeting rooms where a lower profile looks tidier.
Can I use this chair on wooden or parquet floors?
Yes. The castors roll smoothly across hard floors. On softer or oiled woods, including pine and some parquet, we suggest a clear chair mat. The weight of a sitter plus the 13 kg chair is concentrated into five small contact points, and grit trapped under a castor can mark the surface over time.
